ABOUT

If I had to label myself, I could say that I am a figurative artist; producing images of a photo-realistic and impressionistic nature.   My subject matter varies from brief to brief ranging from portraits, landscapes and still life.  I do however have a passion for atmosphere.   I strive to enrich my drawings with character and emotion to create images that not only please but evoke the senses of their audience.

Since exhibiting work at Coningsby Gallery as a BA (hons) Illustration graduate from The University of the West of England (UWE, Bristol) in 2001, I have been working as a freelance Illustrator and Artist.  Undertaking commissions of an Illustrative and Fine Art nature, suiting the individual needs of the client.

I successfully entered the Association of Illustrators ‘Images 27’ competition and was published within a year of graduation.  This opportunity celebrates the best of British Illustration and it was a privilege to have my work on display in The Mall Galleries, London, alongside such fantastic talent.  This exhibition then toured in 2003 as part of the ‘Paintings in Hospitals’ project; a fantastic charity using art “to create welcoming and uplifting environments that improve health, well-being and the patient experience”.  This is an area I am currently perusing in my home region of The Midlands, as I particularly enjoy the scope of creativity and the positive impact that my work can have.

Solo exhibitions have mainly been based at venues local to the inspiration of the artwork and local to me in Solihull.  My extensive work at Bristol Cathedral was exhibited there in 2002 and a number of limited edition signed prints were donated to the shop to raise funds for the ongoing maintenance of such a wonderful and inspirational building.

Information about my other projects and commissions can be viewed by following the menu links where I have given relevant details and many gallery images that I hope you enjoy.
